Traveling means going to new places, meeting new people, eating new food and basically a lot of fun. But it also means spending a lot of money, getting cheated and a lot of hassle. But not any more, if you do a bit of homework and some prior planning.
1) Plan your trip accordingly.
Know where you wish to go. Not all places are liked by everyone. If you are taking kids along, make sure that the place offers a lot of fun activities. A beach or resort will be an ideal option.
In case there are elderly people with you, find out if there are medical facilities nearby. Medical facilities at a remote location can be very expensive. During your travel, do not aim at covering more. The aim should not be the destination, but the trip. Do not have a list of places, monuments, events and museums that you wish to cover. This list should just be your guide.
Go to one place and enjoy it immensely. Go to a tourist spot and soak in the sunrise and sunset there. Interact with the locals. Move around that place. Take photos. Basically try and become one with that place. Make it a part of you. This way you would be able to cherish those memories for a lifetime. If possible, even spend a night at each place that you visit.
4) Travel by road.
There can be nothing better than traveling by road in case you really wish to see a place. Do not have a tight timeline. Take your time. In case you find picturesque surroundings, pull over and spend some time there. All this does not cost money.
Try out local cuisine. This will be cheaper and wholesome. Always have some buffer time with you so that you can do whatever you want.
5) Stay with the locals.
Rather than expensive hotels, check out if any locals are willing to rent out their rooms. This will give you a feel of the local flavor too. In addition, you can talk to them and find out about sightseeing places that may not be available on the Internet even!
