3 Entry-Level Jobs That Lead to Real Careers

3 Entry-Level Jobs That Lead to Real Careers
  • Opening Intro -

There are plenty of students and graduates out there who are looking ahead, trying to figure out which path might be best for them. It isn't an easy position to be in – especially for those who have spent such a long time in education.

-------------------------------------

Nobody can blame those who are about to embark on their career journeys for having a strong case of analysis paralysis.

This is especially unsurprising, competition for junior jobs is fiercer than ever. So we’ve done the research and found three entry-level jobs that we believe lead to stable careers that offer longevity and strong earning potential, with regular and varied opportunities to progress.

Although there are fewer jobs available on the market right now, we’ve also tried to pick entry-level roles that are in higher demand and offer accessibility to those who either don’t have qualifications or have already received different ones. So, without any further ado, let’s jump in.

Paralegal

In case you need a refresher, Paralegals are an essential part of our legal system. They support lawyers by researching cases, overseeing vital case files, and drafting complicated legal documentation. There are also lots of different legal areas that Paralegals can operate within, from copyright law to corporate law and tenant eviction law.

Although the most popular route is getting a degree, students can also get on a NALP (National Association of Licensed Paralegals) course or even start a Paralegal apprenticeship, which is becoming increasingly popular.

As I alluded to earlier, the Paralegal profession is accessible to almost anyone who really wants to commit to it as a long-term career. Neither of the courses mentioned above require any previous experience, and they will both provide learners with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to start working as a Paralegal.

As a career, the Paralegal profession can also lead in a variety of different directions as time goes by. There are naturally Senior Paralegal positions, in which people are typically responsible for a small team, but there is also the wildcard option of qualifying as a fully-fledged lawyer by taking the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).

Teaching

Teachers in the Us and UK – especially in secondary schools and further education – are in shockingly short supply at the moment. This is a strange one, because a career in teaching can be extremely well-paying in the short, medium and long term, offers a variety of ways to climb the ladder, and is one of the most stable jobs in the world.

Specialize in the pastoral side, or teaching and learning, before choosing whether school leadership is for you. After that, you could work your way up to a high-ranking position in an academy trust.

If you’re passionate enough about a subject area, then you might be surprised by just how naturally a job like this comes to you. Inspiring young minds by sharing your passion and creating your own positive learning environment is extremely fulfilling.

It’s also far more accessible than most people think. A lot of people choose to get a degree in education or a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education), but there are other routes that don’t require higher education qualifications, like Open University qualifications and hands-on apprenticeships.

Marketing

This profession is exceedingly accessible, with few, if any, formal qualifications required. Sure, a lot of people get some form of degree, but there are also plenty of operators in the field who are self-taught or have learned plenty of industry knowledge via professional certifications provided by the likes of Good and Hubspot.

There are plenty of different niches as well, like digital marketing, which often involves social media marketing campaigns and SEO., and traditional marketing, which will throw you into the world of billboards and traditional media, like TV and radio campaigns.

Final Thoughts

As we mentioned earlier, the job market is more competitive than ever right now. Well-qualified candidates are fighting tooth and nail for jobs that may not even be around in 10 years. So we hope this list can help provide some inspiration on some strong career paths that will stand the test of time.
