  • Opening Intro -

You won't get rich taking surveys. You won't make a living, either.

But, if you take surveys regularly, you can accumulate points that can be redeemed toward rewards including free magazines, airline miles, savings on shopping, gift cards and other offers.

Or receive points redeemable toward awards.

Fact: Likely, you won’t ever see cash, but the money you save is equivalent to earning money for the surveys you do take.

Rest assured, survey taking is not a hoax. At least it doesn’t have to be. Companies do value your opinion and will go to great lengths to ensure that these surveys ask pertinent questions to help them get a better idea about your spending and living habits. You won’t be asked to give your name and your personal information, such as your Social Security Number, stays safe. If a site seeks to get more than the basic contact information, then move on — it may be a scam.

How can you find a legitimate survey site? Search online! Let’s take a look at some steps you can toward finding and using online survey websites:

1. Conduct an online search — Online survey websites are easy to find. Simply type in the words “paid online survey” and you’ll get a bunch of results. Visit each site and read the “terms of use” and “privacy policy” to find out if the site works for you. Understand what is being offered to you including types of surveys, rewards and redemption.

2. Use a dedicated email address — Avoid flooding your main email account with too many requests for surveys. Instead, set up a separate email account or two and use these to see survey offers as they come in. You’ll need to check these daily as offers arrive and are quickly get taken.

3. Assemble and narrow your list — Don’t bother signing up for too many survey sites unless you’re retired and have plenty of time on your hands. You’ve already assembled a list of survey providers, now go through that list and choose only those companies that have offers you want to fulfill.

4. Register your information. — Once you’re confident that a survey site works best for you, then sign up. Fill out the personal information including your name, your location, number of people in your household and your salary range. Some companies will want more or different information.

5. Receive your password — Once you’ve registered, your information including your password may be sent to your email address. You may need to click on a link to activate your account. If so, do so immediately.

With your account now activated, you should be able to begin taking surveys almost immediately. One or more surveys may be waiting in your inbox. Others will arrive as they become available. Read the details before taking a survey — the estimated time allowed for the reward offered may not suit your needs or schedule.
