Cool Father’s Day Gift and Celebration Ideas
  • Opening Intro -

Father’s Day falls on the third Sunday of June, the day when dads are honored by their wives and children.

Most years Dad can expect a tie, a new grill, or maybe a day out at the ballpark.

-------------------------------------

This year you might try something different and wholly unexpected to honor the favorite man in your life.

Hold a cookout. Dad is used to grilling out, but why not turn the tables and let Mom and other adults do the grilling instead? Invite Dad’s buddies, their wives and children for a pot luck outing that everyone will enjoy. Afterward, let the guys enjoy their favorite ballgame or take in the NBA or NHL playoffs on TV.

Send the guys to the game. Father’s Day can give Dad a chance to head to the ballpark with his buds to watch his favorite team play. Call ahead and ask the park to acknowledge your guys by name on the scoreboard, over the loudspeaker or both. If Dad goes with the kids, then you’ll get some time to yourself too!

Give him footwear. Surprise Dad with a pair of sandals or flip flops. When he opens the package hand him a new fishing pole and tackle, telling him to head to the lake for a day of fishing. If he prefers deep sea fishing, get with some other moms and rent a boat exclusively for the guys.

Have it made in the shade. When was the last time Dad got a new pair of sunglasses? Use Father’s Day as an opportunity to replace his old pair of shades with new ones. If he has a prescription, have it filled and ready in time for Dad’s big day. Consider various designer shades.

Rent a cabin for the weekend. Make Father’s Day a family adventure, but start the celebration on a Friday. Head to Dad’s favorite cabin in the woods or try out a new place, one recommended by friends. Surprise him with an early gift — a new shot gun or fishing reel might do it.

Get him the wallet he wants. Most men hold onto their wallets until they’re literally falling apart. The problem many men have with wallets is that they aren’t designed to hold everything they need. Choose a wallet that securely holds cash and credit cards in place. Multiple card slots and storage pockets are preferred including a separate bill carrier to keep his greenbacks organized.

Send him to the races. Dad’s love of cars mean you can always buy him a new truck grille, a car wash kit, even new floor mats or seat covers. Why not send him to racing school where he can take his passion out on the track? Race schools are located across the country, providing sports cars for students to drive. Your man will get right seat instruction before he head’s down the track in a Corvette, Porsche, Mustang GT or other higher performance sports car.

Happy Father’s Day!

Dad will appreciate the thoughtfulness and your unique perspective for arranging a day that goes beyond the ordinary. Send him out armed with handmade cards from the kids and your gratitude for his care.
