The Best Cash Back Credit Cards of Summer 2013

The Best Cash Back Credit Cards of Summer 2013
  • Opening Intro -

    Summer is in full swing.

That means millions of people across the country are going to make summer-related purchases such as airline tickets, gasoline, sporting equipment, barbecues, cold treats, and more.

-------------------------------------

However, did you know that summer represents one of the best times to take advantage of offers for a new credit card?

There are a number of great cash back credit cards being offered currently that will help to put some of your summer spending money back in your pocket. Many of these cards also offer lengthy 0% APR periods so that you will not be subject to interest on your balance for over a year in some cases.

Choosing a credit card can be tough, so I’ve done the research for you in order to rank my picks of the best cash back credit cards of the summer.

Discover It Card –
The Discover It Card is my favorite credit card currently being offered. With the Discover It Card, cardholders receive 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases at gas stations from July through September 2013, and 1% cash back on all other purchases.

The extra cash back at gas stations is an awesome perk to have if you plan on traveling by car a lot during summer. The card also offers a 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers for 14 months. Lastly, the card doesn’t require an annual fee, and doesn’t charge overlimit fees, foreign transaction fees, or a late fee on your first late payment. Paying late also will not raise your APR.

Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard –
The Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard is another great choice for a cash back credit card this summer. With the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard, cardholders can earn up to 10,000 bonus points when they spend $750 in the first three months that they have the card.

These 10,000 points equate to a $100 cash back statement credit. In addition, cardholders earn 2 points per dollar spent on gas, groceries, and utilities, and 1 point per dollar spent on anything else. These points can be redeemed for travel, merchandise, or cash back. The card also offers a 0% introductory APR on purchases for 12 full months, and requires no annual fee.

Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express –
The Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express rounds out my list for the best summer cash back credit cards. With the Blue Cash Everyday Card, cardholders receive 100 Reward Dollars after they spend $1000 on purchases in the first three months that they have the card.

In addition, the card offers a 3% cash back bonus at US supermarkets, 2% cash back at US gas stations and select department stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. The card also offers a 0% introductory APR on purchases for 12 months. There is also no annual fee to use the card.

The cash back you will receive by using credit cards also can benefit you in other ways. Responsibly using your credit card and paying off your bill every month can help increase your credit score. A good credit score will come in handy next time you need to finance a new home or car.
