Cross Country Road Trip: What to Pack as an Incoming College Freshman
  • Opening Intro -

Graduating high school is a memorable occasion, but the reality of quickly moving on will soon settle in.

Moving away and going to college can be both exciting and frightening at the same time. The prospect of newfound independence is something that most people wait 18 years to achieve. Once it happens, there can be some unsettling moments that occur.

That will all pass in time, as moving on and doing one’s own thing is a part of life.Regardless, you will want to make sure that you have what you need as you embark on this new adventure. With that in mind, take a look at some of the things you will want to pack and take with you as an incoming college freshman.

Book Safe

As a college student, you will undoubtedly have many books that you will need to get you through the course of your studies. This is going to be quite the investment.

You also cannot live without these books, as you will need the knowledge contained within them in order to pass the class. Protect your investment by bringing a book safe so you can store these items away when you are not using them.

Your Vehicle

Driving is a rite of passage. Just be safe about it and you will love the newfound independence that having your own vehicle brings to the table.

Consider a pre owned ford as you go to college. This is a much better value than a high price vehicle when you’re about to go to school, and you can use the savings to buy those books that we just talked about.

Having a car will help you open up job opportunities and housing opportunities that may not be as close to campus. Your dating and social life can also benefit from being mobile.

Storage Boxes

Dorm rooms and off-campus housing can be quite small. You will want to have some storage boxes that fit nicely under a bed. This will give you the room that you need, while still being able to have access to your important belongings when you need them.

All Kinds of Shoes

This is something that many people don’t think about. You will need plenty of shoes for all seasons and all types of events. Bring those from home and you will be able to save time and money down the road. Don’t forget those shower shoes as well!

other valuable tips:

These are just four of the many things that you will want to consider packing as an incoming freshman. Remember that it might not be as easy to rush out to the store to buy things as it is in your hometown. You also might not find the same items that you are used to. If you can’t live without it, then you should bring it with you. If you do, you will feel much more comfortable and relaxed as a result.
