Top 3 Education Jobs

Top 3 Education Jobs
  • Opening Intro -

You would be nowhere without your education, which is why you have such a strong desire to educate.

Your family and friends admit you are braver than they could ever be.

Working in education these days is an unforgiving vocation. Between the kids who have never been taught respect and their parents who expect you to raise their children for them, are you ready for one of the biggest challenges of your life? Yes. Because you know the rewards are much greater than the risk. Here are the top three jobs in education as reported by U.S. News and World Report. Perhaps you qualify for one of them.

1. High School Teacher

For some, teaching younger children is easier, but there’s nothing better than working with kids during adolescence. This is one of the toughest times in their lives, and it’s also when they are the most impressionable. Look back on your education and think about the teachers who influenced you the most. There is no doubt most of them were your high school teachers.

If you’d like to help teens realize their potential and become responsible adults, find a job in Los Angeles or another large city. These kids are the most at-risk. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an 8 percent growth in the need for high school teachers from now through 2026, and the position earns $58,030 per year on average.

2. Elementary School Teacher

If you prefer to work with little ones, there’s plenty of need for elementary school teachers, too. According to the BLS, from 2016 to 2026, there will be 104,100 elementary school teaching job openings throughout the U.S. The percentage of increased need is 7 percent until 2016, and the annual median salary is $55,800.

You can choose to teach kindergarten or the first few grades to work with younger children. Or, you can teach fourth, fifth, or sixth grade to help prepare your students for middle school. Teaching at this level is crucial to children, as this is the time they develop their educational skills. Do you want to teach kids reading, writing, and arithmetic? If so, become an elementary school teacher.

3. Teaching Assistant

Perhaps you’re still working on your bachelor’s degree but would like to work part-time. If this is the case, consider becoming a teacher assistant. Your role is crucial in the classroom, as you will be the one to provide one-on-one instruction to students. Your job will be “to float from desk to desk,” as U.S. News and World Report puts it, to help students individually as they need it.

This is a great way to earn precious work experience while still completing your education degree. BLS stats indicate there were 1.3 million teacher assistants working in the U.S. in 2016, and their average annual salary was $25,410.

These are only three education jobs projected to be in high demand in the years to come. Find your perfect one and start making a difference in kids’ lives. One day, your former students will look back on their education and you’ll be the first teacher that comes to mind. Their favorite one. The one who inspired them most. Don’t think it’s true? Just wait and see!
