Here are a few great careers you can start in less than one year.
Flight Attendant
If you are intrigued by the prospect of traveling to unique destinations for work and getting started in 3-6 weeks, becoming a flight attendant could be a perfect fit for you. Flight attendants should be comfortable talking to all kinds of people, and they must stay calm under pressure. Airplane accidents are very rare, but flight attendants are responsible for helping keep passengers safe at all times.
Most people become flight attendants through on-the-job training that lasts 3-6 weeks and teaches you flight regulations, job duties, and company policies.
According to the BLS, the median salary for a flight attendant is a healthy $50,500 per year. Not a bad chunk of change for less than two months of training!
Commercial Truck Driver
There is a huge demand for commercial truck drivers with CDL A licenses from companies like C.R. England, and that doesn’t look to change any time soon.
People who tend to succeed in this type of job are independent self-starters with an eye for details. Drivers must log their driving data correctly, select the best routes, and follow all legal regulations.
Students can complete a CDL training program in under a month, and many carriers hire students after they complete the company’s training program. The big trucking companies also often provide company-paid CDL training that is dependent upon students finishing an employment contract of around 12 months. The BLS states that truck drivers make a median of about $42,480 per year. Some of the top-paid drivers can make near six figures.
Physical Therapy Assistant
In the fastest programs, students can become physical therapy assistants in an astounding one month. Their job duties include setting up rehabilitation equipment, assisting patients with their exercises, and completing administrative duties.
As a physical therapy assistant, you can expect a median pay of $46,920 a year, according to the BLS. Since this job requires you to be on your feet and helping patients, employees must be physically capable.
other valuable tips:
Electrician
This certification takes a little longer than some on this list (4 months), but you can also expect a healthy salary. The BLS says that the median pay for electricians is $54,110 a year!
Electricians will install, maintain, and repair the electrical systems of homes and private buildings. People in this profession will have to travel to their job sites, so being flexible about that is crucial. Electricians must also be physically capable, and sometimes they may have to work in cramped spaces.
You can get your new career started without a 4-year investment in the professions listed above. Don’;t get overwhelmed in the job search. Develop a plan and work toward that new beginning.
