Six of the charities that are specifically designed for children are listed below.
Some you may recognize right off the bat; others may not be as well-known.
1. Make-a-Wish Foundation:
This is the foundation that grants children who have life-threatening medical conditions their fondest wishes. The foundation was organized in 1980, and as of 2007, had granted more than 165,000 wishes.
2. March of Dimes:
Even in this age of medical advances, there are still children born with birth defects or who are born prematurely. Unfortunately, there are also still children who die in infancy. Thankfully, March of Dimes is there to help these children.
3. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children:
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children works to prevent the situations in which children can go missing or be sexually exploited. They also work to find missing children and provide support for those families whose children were abducted and sexually exploited.
4. Ronald McDonald House Charities:
Having a seriously ill child is traumatic enough on both parents and children. Thanks to Ronald McDonald House Charities, finding housing near a hospital is one less things parents and children have to worry about, as they can stay in one of the many facilities located in or near pediatric hospitals and treatment centers across the nation.
5. Kars4Kids:
When you donate your used car to Kars4Kids, your donation goes to J.O.Y., which stands for Joy for Our Youth. This is a charity organization designed to help Jewish children who come from disadvantaged homes. Services include providing opportunities to go to camp, tutoring services, and help with food and clothing.
6. Shriners Hospitals for Children:
Founded by the Shriners of North America, these hospitals provide care for children who suffer from various medical conditions. The hospitals also treat children who have suffered burns.
If you’re looking to donate to charities with kids in mind, definitely take a look at the above. You can help make a child’s life brighter and happier.
