Survey Confirms Moms Looking To Save Money

-------------------------------------

National OfficeMax survey reveals that mothers are looking to save money on back to school items well in advance of the start of the school year.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but a recent national survey conducted by office supply giant, OfficeMax, reveals that mothers are looking for deals and value for children’s back to school clothing, supplies and related materials. Surveying more than one thousand mothers nationwide, the survey revealed that 70% of the mothers are worried about the cost of supplies on their children’s supplies lists.

Parents worried about back to school shopping costs may feel that theyll need to bring a bag of money with them. An OfficeMax survey reveals that moms everywhere are concerned about the cost of school supplies for the coming school year.

Parents worried about back to school shopping costs may feel that they'll need to bring a bag of money with them. An OfficeMax survey reveals that moms everywhere are concerned about the cost of school supplies for the coming school year.

“Our survey findings show that today’s challenging economy has parents paying closer attention to the costs of going back-to-school and scrutinizing every purchase on the back-to-school list from clothes to shoes to school supply list and are getting more creative in finding ways to save money,” said OfficeMax EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer Ryan Vero. “But price alone isn’t the only factor. This year, moms are considering a number of factors, from where and when they shop to whether the products they select provide both a good price and good quality for sustained use.”

Like other retailers, OfficeMax plans to offer a wide selection of high demand items including private label products. Private label items generally cost much less as they don’t carry the same high marketing costs of the national brands. Oftentimes, private label products prove just as good as the national brands are can be priced from ten to fifty percent less.

“Across the board, today’s savvy shoppers are looking to private label product lines as a great way to get quality products at a more affordable cost,” said Vero. “The trend has historically been more visible in other retail categories, but is quickly transferring to the supplies category as a great way to find better value.”

SayEducate.com reminds families to take advantage of tax free holiday shopping where available. In the current economy, a number of states have dropped these plans, but retailers are stepping up to the plate by slashing prices and by offering a wider variety of products from which to choose.
