Gift Giving for Sports Fans

Gift Giving for Sports Fans

Everyone has a sport fan on their holiday shopping list, but each and every year it gets harder and harder to think of something that they will truly appreciate.  There are only so many shirts, key chains, and bobble heads you can buy for them before your gift giving starts to get redundant.  Well get out of a rut this holiday season and truly start to give gifts that the sports fan on your list will absolutely love!

Oftentimes, a sports-related gift gets tossed aside because it has little to no value of its own. Bobble heads and paraphernalia collect dust on shelves while bottle openers and key chains get lost or broken. To really give a gift that is thoughtful and useful, try combining a couple different passions of your sports fan. This will ensure that your gift actually gets used and takes the important step from “novelty item” to “usable.”

Maybe instead of getting your sports fan tickets to the game, package it with some gift certificates to their favorite bar or restaurant near the stadium. Not that they would skip out on the game if you didn’t combine these things, but it will make their day out even more memorable.

Sometimes gifts don’t have to be tangible. You can give the gift of a stadium or arena tour of your sports fan’s favorite team. Imagine being able to walk on the field at Dodger Stadium, the hardwood of Madison Square Garden, or the end zone of Soldier Field. Sometimes walking on the same ground as your favorite sports team can be the best gift in the world.

Does your sports fan also love their car?  Why not spring for some customized NBA floor mats? It’s a great way to combine practicality with true thoughtfulness.  There are quite a few car accessories that can be customized with your sports fan’s favorite team and since the car gets used every day, you can be sure that your gift will get some use and attention.

If you know that the sports fan on your holiday shopping list has a favorite player, you could spring for a pro jersey.  If you aren’t sure who their favorite player is or if that player will even be on the team long enough to matter (think Randy Moss), you can always get the jersey customized with the recipients last name.  This makes it an even more personal gift, and one that they can wear for years, regardless of who comes and goes from their favorite team.

This holiday season, ditch the cheesy gift giving and give your sports fan a gift they will truly remember and appreciate.

Sports and I are two separate, distinct non-intersecting entities. But one of my favorite takes on customized gifts are mousepads – you can always get those with your sport of choice. They’re very well received!
