Thanks, Michele. I agree, we spend too much money on stuff we really do not need. Meanwhile, there are too many organizations who are cutting back because they’re not getting enough funds.

Charitable gift cards cover the gift and the giving angle!

I have used TisBest for birthdays, wedding gifts, and holiday gifts. They are great! TisBest has the lowest fees, amazing customer service, and I really like that I can upload my own photos. Thanks for writing about these alternatives to the conspicuous consumption that plagues the holidays!

Matthew, thanks for featuring charity gift cards! JustGive.org offers the GiveNow card, which can be redeemed to nearly 1.5 million charities. We offer e-cards (which can also be printed), as well as a more traditional physical card mailed directly from JustGive. E-cards are $5 for the first and $2 for each additional. Physical cards is $5 each. JustGive passes through 97% to charity.

Recipients can donate to one charity, or multiple charities with a single card. Gift givers have access to an account where they can view which cards have been redeemed.
